Buon Giorno! We are the gondoliers and musicians of Gondola di Venezia. We are excited and proud to share with you the incredible history, mystery and romance of the ancient Venetian gondola.
Gondola di Venezia was founded by Joseph and Camille Gibbons, who fell in love with the idea of having gondolas along the Charles river during their courtship in the 1990’s. After investing an incredible amount of work and life savings to have the gondolas built and shipped over from Venice, Italy, they finally arrived here in Boston on The Charles River in 2001. Today, Joseph and Camille share their passion and love for Venetian Gondolas with close friends, Steve and Sue Bruno. Steve has been rowing gondola tours for ten years and brings considerable experience and character to share with our guests.
We support and encourage the preservation of the ancient art of gondola building in Venice, and are active members of the Gondoliers Society of America. We return regularly to Venice to row in the annual Voga Longa, a 14 mile open ocean race that raises awareness about the dying art of ship building and the impact that gas powered boats have on the environment.
